چکیده

Methods Eighty patients with history of past MI were grouped by MI coronary territory {left anterior descending (LAD), left circumflex (LCX), right coronary (RCA)}. Scar quantification was done by computer-assisted planimetry (Medis Qmass v7.2) of gadolinium enhanced delayed images and MI percentage was determined. Global and regional circumferential subendocardial (Ecc Endo) and subepicardial (Ecc Epi) and longitudinal (Ell) strains were derived from three long axis (4, 3 and 2 chamber) and three short axis (basal, mid, apical) steady state free procession cine planes. Semi-automated tracing of endocardial and epicardial borders using FT-MRI (Diogenes MRI, Tomtec Systems) was performed and strains were mapped to a 17 segment AHA model. Repeated measures ANOVA was used to compare normal strain values from 60 healthy subjects to MI patients controlling for scar percentage.

Role of Fructose as a Potent Antiarrhythmic and Anti-infarct agent in Isolated Rat Heart

In the current study, effects of acute short term administration of fructose on cardiac arrhythmias and myocardial infarction size following ischemia/reperfusion were investigated in isolated rat heart. The hearts were subjected to 30 min zero flow global ischemia followed by 120 min reperfusion. In the control group, the hearts were perfused by normal drug free Krebs-Henseleit (K/H) solution t...

Comparison between the effects of L-Carnitine and Acetyl-L-Carnitine on myocardial infarction size in ischemic heart

Introduction: In the present study, potential differences between the effects of L-carnitine (LC) and acetyl-Lcarnitine (ALC) on ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-induced myocardial infarction size were investigated. Methods: Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into five groups and then anesthetized by sodium pentobarbital. Hearts of the animals were removed and quickly mounted on a Langendorff ...

Strain rate imaging for assessment of regional myocardial function: results from a clinical model of septal ablation.

BACKGROUND Regional myocardial function assessment is essential in the management of coronary artery disease (CAD). Tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) by depicting local myocardial motion can potentially quantify regional myocardial function. Strain rate imaging (SRI) that depicts regional deformation is less susceptible to cardiac translation and tethering and may be superior to TDI for regional fun...

Improved regional function after autologous bone marrow-derived stem cell transfer in patients with acute myocardial infarction: a randomized, double-blind strain rate imaging study.

AIMS To investigate whether intracoronary transfer of bone marrow progenitor cells (BMPCs) early after reperfusion of an acute myocardial infarction improves regional myocardial function in a randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled strain rate imaging study. METHODS AND RESULTS Regional myocardial deformation was measured using velocity-derived strain rate imaging in 67 STEMI patients ran...
